The Park Townhomes: Concrete Lifting & Void Filling
The Park is a local townhome community in Layton, Utah. It was built a few years ago and during construction they brought in some soil to build up the site to the proper elevation. Once the townhomes were about 1 year old many of the front porches experienced quite a bit of settling. Many of them had between 1”- 6” of voids under them.
If left with these voids for very long, the concrete would probably have begun to crack and sink. Luckily, the contractor addressed the issue immediately and called PolyFoam Solutions to help remediate the problem.
We walked through the project with the contractor to see the extent of the problem and answer their questions. Afterwards, we proposed an injection plan to lift the areas that had already sunk and to fill the large voids and provide support everywhere else.
We spent about 1 month going through each of the affected townhomes one-by-one lifting and filling the voids. Many porches, sidewalks, and even a garage floor had to be supported. But in the end, the work that we performed saved the community hundreds of thousands of dollars in tear-out and replacement costs.
